What to expect from DOC to RTF
What changes in the file, and what to check before you share the result.
Moving off a legacy format
DOC is the Word format used before 2007. A RTF copy is easier to open in current editors, cloud tools, and phones.
Formatting mostly carries over
Text, headings, lists, tables, and images usually transfer between DOC and RTF. Complex layouts, macros, tracked changes, and uncommon fonts can shift, so review the result before sending it.
DOC to RTF questions
Short answers about limits, privacy, and keeping the converted file.
Will DOC to RTF keep my formatting?
Common text, headings, lists, tables, and images usually transfer well. Complex layouts, macros, uncommon fonts, and application-specific features can change, so review the converted document before sharing it.
Is the DOC to RTF converter free?
Yes. Without an account you can convert up to 10 files a day, 2 at a time, up to 25 MB each. A free account adds monthly conversion credits and larger files.
How long are my files kept?
Guest uploads and results are deleted automatically after 1 hour. Conversions stay temporary when you are signed in too, unless you save a result to your workspace.
Can I get a permanent link to the RTF file?
Yes. Save the result to a SteadyLink workspace and it gets a stable link. If you make a new version later, replace the file and the link stays the same.
